It's been a great year on my journey of self discovery through painting. I painted waves in Maui, and my watercolor “Moody Blues” was selected for the Hui No’eau 2011 Annual Juried Exhibition. Returning to the Columbia River Gorge, I participated for the first time in the Gorge Artists Open Studio Tour, met lots of great art lovers and sold seven paintings!
The rest of the year was about Plein Air; painting pastels outside with fellow artists in the Gorge, enrolling in Richard McKinley’s inspirational “Pastel Boot Camp”, and sharing the joy of painting with some of the best pastel artists in the Region at the NorthWest Pastels Society’s Whidbey Island Paint-Out. This was my first year to participate in the Pacific Northwest Plein AIr Competiton in Hood RIver Oregon, a challenging and intense experience, and it was a thrill for me to win the people’s choice award for my painting “Skamania Landing”.
This winter I returned to Maui to paint with the Plein Air Painters of Maui and my work was accepted at both Maui Hands Gallery in Paia and at the Hui N o 'eau Visual Arts Center.
Now it’s time to get ready for spring in the Gorge and GORGE ARTISTS OPEN STUDIO TOUR April 13, 14 and 15 Thank you for visiting my Website and come see me at Gorge Artists Open Studios in April 2012.
